About the Book “A Gift of Architecture”
In 1989 the OMCA Council on Architecture, using a grant from the Woman’s Board of the Oakland Museum Association, conceived and produced a beautiful book called “A Gift of Architecture”. This guide is an insider’s tour where the reader can follow the history of the building, hear the architects explain their visions and see illustrations of the plans done by Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo and Associates in 1964.
In 2014 the COA updated and re-produced the book, Part Two, to include the recent Mark Cavagnero Associated renovations and revitalization of the Museum. The new book combines part one and part two in an ingenious accordion design, with a lovely fitted cover. “A Gift of Architecture” is available for sale in the Oakland Museum gift shop.
